Mike Curran’s transatlantic adventure began as a musical one.
As a young child on long truck rides to the heart of Mexico with his father, it was the rebelliously wistful vivid stories of Cash and Haggard that were his constant companions.
Treks throughout the American West with his mother were accompanied by a generous helping of British Invasion greats and the potent mix of blues and jazz with folk and country that created rock and roll.
Throughout a life guided by the inspiration of music and the outdoors, these influences and many more served him well in helping to make him the musician, performer, and songwriter that he would become.
Some years later, these early beginnings were to come full circle as he packed up his California roots and began a new life in England, back to the ancestors’ land.
The music, stories, and sights of both sides of the Atlantic now flow freely through him; into his music, and into his lyrics.
The power of music and words to move and inspire, to affect change and provide hope in an often unhopeful world, are what continuously drive him forward to the next song.
To the next allegory or riff that sets the hand writing or strumming and the mind full of possibilities alight.
To the next story, just as it began all of those years ago.
